In the early hours of this morning Nottingham experienced the aftershock of the earthquake which originated in Lincolnshire. If, like me, you were woken by the bed shaking and feeling like the house had been hit by a lorry then you will know how disturbing it was.
Thanks to the Internet I was quickly able to establish that the tremors were not directed personally at me and confirm that people in many regions of England had experienced the same disturbance. The BBC News and SKY News websites were able to confirm that there was no imminent danger and that I was not imagining things going bump in the night.
Don’t ask me why I was ’sad’ enough to have my laptop under the bed and even consider logging on at that time in the morning! However, all I wanted to say was that in these times of technology, gadgets and gismo’s I was relieved that the Internet was able to provide all the answers I needed at the flick of a mouse, proving again the power of communication.
